Bloom & Bee Swanky

When you live downtown…

Living downtown means great shops are only minutes away!  One of my favorite places in Waco is Bloom & Bee Swanky.  It’s beautiful inside.  And it smells incredible too!

What are you looking for?

You can probably find it here!  Bloom & Bee Swanky is more than an antique store… their website describes it as “an ensemble of unexpected finds.”  The store is full of unique antique items that are displayed in an amazing way.

I first went there a couple of years ago when I was shopping for tea cups for my daughter’s birthday party.  It was a dress up party that included real tea from real tea cups!  The tea didn’t go over very well, but the girls loved picking their own pretty cup.  Each one was different!

But that’s not all!

I didn’t just find fun tea cups… I came home with a beautiful silver tea pot, a cream & sugar set, and a tray.  My daughter loved them!  They looked so fancy.

The finds just keep coming

I stopped in again this week to see what they had inside.  It’s always different!  I was looking for something fun to house one of my favorite plants.  I found what I was looking for… but I’ll wait to show it to you until I’m finished potting the plant :)

Oso’s is Oh So Good

March 24th, 2013 • Posted By: Jenny Thebault • Make A Comment

Have you been to Oso’s? A big part of life with kids is ICE CREAM.  Around here, it’s practically a daily ritual.  This past Christmas we bought an ice cream maker and have had lots of fun creating our own flavors, but so far we’ve only mastered the not-quite-as-healthy-as-you’d-like varieties!  Thank goodness we can walk [...]

It’s so weird… We had been talking about going for a bike ride all day today, and even had plans to check out a used bike trailer tonight for the baby… and then we were playing in the back yard and saw a bunch of bikes wizz by in a race!  Wow!  This was our [...]

Austin Ave. treasures! I love Austin Ave.!  I find new things there all the time!  While driving and poking around, I spotted a sales rack outside of Melange Boutique.  I’d never been inside before, and I’m a sucker for a killer sales rack, so I parked immediately to check it out! And surprises! Turns out [...]

  • Chase & Jenny Thebault Hello, Hello! We are Chase & Jenny Thebault.  On any given day, Chase can be found out for a run, playing in the yard, or planning our next fun family excursion.  Jenny is usually at a playgroup with the kiddos, taking pictures, or eating chocolate.  We love adventure, love people, and love Jesus.

We have been in Waco since 2006 when we moved here so that Chase could do his Family Medicine residency at the Family Health Center.  After completing residency, Chase began working at the Elm Avenue Community Clinic.  A year later we decided to move to East Waco so that we could further invest in the community.  We see movement to restore downtown and are excited to play a part.

We love our neighbors, and we love living here.  It’s great fun to work, live, and play in the same place!  Our 100 year old home is close to everything – Chase walks to work, and we are only minutes from the suspension bridge where we often run and ride our bikes.  On the 4th of July, we are even able to watch the fireworks from our back yard!

Waco is an amazing city, and moving downtown has allowed us to experience its life and energy every day.
